Use and Care

Your board can be cleaned with a damp cloth and a mild anti-bacterial soap.  You can sanitize your board with common household vinegar.  Do NOT use bleach on your Cajun Gumbo Board.  Rinse with hot water, wipe with a clean cloth, and allow it to dry in an upright position.  Do NOT soak your Cajun Gumbo Board and do NOT put it in the dishwasher.

Re-oil your Cajun Gumbo Board regularly.  Mineral oil, beeswax, walnut, almond or coconut oil will work.  At CGB, we use mineral oil or a natural beeswax finish.  As a general rule, a monthly coat of mineral oil will keep it ready for action.  Apply the oil liberally, and rub into the wood with a clean cloth.  Stand the board on end, or prop up for a few hours, re-oiling until the wood does not absorb any more oil.
